Baldur’s Gate 3 Dark Urge Easter Egg in Tav’s Game Has Players Obsessed

A Baldur’s Gate 3 Dark Urge Easter egg has players develop their own head cannon during their Tav matches.

Despite its August 2023 release, Baldur’s Gate 3 fans are still finding new Easter eggs, largely due to the game’s enormous scope. Like most role-playing games, it is common for players to miss certain parts of the game during their initial playthrough.

As such, the BG3 community has begun sharing these various Easter eggs on Reddit and social media. The final Easter egg to be shared among the Baldur’s Gate 3 community was the discovery of Dark Urge’s body during Act 3 of the game.

A BG3 player shared his findings in a new Reddit thread while playing as Tav.

Did I just find the Dark Urge in Tav’s campaign? by u/Shinobi-King18 on BaldursGate3

“So after defeating Orin and entering her rooms, I found some corpses that I imagine she did her usual stabbing with, one of them is a white dragon that looks an awful lot like the default Dark Urge. If they are the Durge, is this what happens to them if you don’t select them at the beginning?

While in development, Baldur’s Gate 3 was codenamed Gustav. As such, the developers decided to pay homage to this by choosing Tav as the default name for the custom generic male character.

At launch, fans quickly discovered that the name section of the customization screen was largely hidden, causing many players to miss the section and, as such, play the game with their character named Tav.

Tav has therefore become something of a meme and inside joke within the BG3 community, with many now referring to their game using the default male character as a Tav race.
